The manhunt begins for one or more murderers. The investigation is the world’s largest criminal investigation of all time. Since the murder, police have processed hundreds of thousands of contributions to the case, mostly from the public. Some good leads were trashed by investigators. Over a hundred men have confessed to the murder but all without substance.
At the height of the investigation, a then 42 year old drug addict was convicted of the Palme murder. An appeal court dismissed the charges since it became all apparent that the suspect was innocent of the charges.
